Mite News

The New London Hospital Mites had an exciting weekend of hockey. On Saturday they earned the label "team Rolaids" as they lost a close 5-4 game to PVA. It was a back and forth contest that PVA captured during the final minute of play. Maddie Folcik moved up from defense to center and netted two goals. Jakob Arnold netted two more on the way to a Hart Trophy-like year for him. Ronan Walsh showed some speed and should have had a goal of his own, but the refs didn't agree ...if only we could have had it reviewed in Toronto! It was a real nailbiter for both teams and the solid crowd on hand at Proctor Academy.

The kids were just fired up for Sundays contest down at Tritown arena. The bench was short due to illness but that did not stop them- Maddie Folcik netted her third goal of the weekend and Kevin "the rocket man" Altman finally got the monkey off his back by lighting the lamp not once but twice! Jakob Arnold put the game out of reach with yet another goal. All of the kids were flying out there - kudos to Hannah Curtis and Chloe Methven on their best performances of the season. Also, Nicole Kimtis who, like a true warrior, fought of an early weekend illness to battle hard for her team. NLH Mites 4 - Tritown 1. The NLH Mites are back in action @ Proctor Academy on Saturday the 23rd when they host Tritown.

The New London Hospital Mites continued their winning ways Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Twin Valley. A strong team effort was highlighted by the cat-like reflexes of netminder Cody, “the squid”, Rowe, as well as a two goal performance by Jakob Arnold. Most of all, the mite thrashers battled hard as a team in helping to fight off an intense Twin Valley crew. The mites face off next against Concord @ Everett arena on February 10th.

We lost a fairly close one to PVA. 4-2 but it was not decided until the 3rd. They had a big, strong team. Ronan and Jakob scored unassisted goals. We had strong 2-way play from Kevin Altman, solid defense from Maddie Folcik, some big saves from Cody Rowe and all of the kids really hustled.

Great turnout- there was not a single player absent.
