Dear KYHA Players and Parents,

As we close out our 2007-2008 season the KYHA Board of Directors is looking forward and preparing for 2008-2009. This year the Board is experiencing an exodus of talented and dedicated individuals. This is both a problem and opportunity. While it is challenging to replace the Board members we are losing it does allow interested individuals to step up and become more involved within the association.

Some of the areas that are now open for nominations include: Board positions, Coaching positions, Team Manager positions and Booster Club positions. The Board positions are varied and may change depending on the skill set a potential new member brings to this group. Coaching positions for all levels are open. Our goal is to have all coaching positions filled by the end of March 2008. Team Manager positions are very important to the functioning of each team.

Additionally, in an effort to increase the awareness and associations collective strength we are instituting a parent booster club. The function of this group is open for a dedicated individual to come forward and develop a vision and direction. Some ideas we as a Board have come up with for the Booster Club include: running the snack bar, assisting with the Dunlap Tournament, Fundraising Initiatives and the Year end Banquet.

Often when discussing our association with parents we are told that schedules and time commitments prevent greater involvement with the 'running' of our association. While this is understandable it is also problematic. An association is only as strong as its administrative team. We have an opportunity to move forward and continue to develop and improve the hockey experience for the children and youth that represent the reason for our efforts. If your schedule does not present the opportunity to become a Board Member or Coach - possibly you might consider becoming an assistant coach, active parent booster or team manager.

Whatever your contribution, it is imperative for the health of our organization for everyone to become involved at some level.
